Aarakshan

Aarakshan starring Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone is directed by Prakash Jha, who also directed Raajneeti, it is a high voltage socio-political drama based on one of the most controversial policies of caste based reservations in government jobs and educational institutions. Like the majority of Jha's films, it takes on issues about the society and political affairs of India. The film will also star Prateik Babbar and Manoj Bajpai. Music is composed by Shankar - Ehsaan - Loy and Prasoon Joshi wrote the lyrics.

Story : At the start we see that Deepak (Saif Ali Khan) goes for an interview at a particular institute, for the post of a professor only to get insulted. The people taking the interview ask Deepak his full name. Deepak very calmly replies and says Deepak Kumar. Things begin to get worse when the interviewers ask Deepak about his family background and more importantly his father's name. Deepak tells them he has never seen his father and it was his mother who brought him up. The conversation turns ugly when the interviewers question Deepak that if his mother does not know her own background, then how is he even supposed to know his. By this time, Deepak gets infuriated and says to the interviewers if he had not inherited manners, then he would have printed the institute's name on each interviewer's forehead; with a lot of wrath within his heart he walks off.

As Deepak requires a job as soon as possible he goes for interview at another institute with the name of the institute being Shakuntala Thakral College. At that college we see a disciplined professor by the name of Prabhkar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan). Prabhkar Anand interviews Deepak and accepts him as a professor. Prabhkar's daughter also studies at the same college and that is also where Poorbie (Deepika Padukone) and Deepak meet each other. They meet seldom and ultimately fall in love. Also Sushant Seth (Prateik Babbar) is seen to be their friend. But not just Deepak's friend however best friend.

The story builds up when all the relationships start tearing up due to the deadly topic of Reservation raises its nasty head. The star pupil who Prabhkar Anand trusts the prime, Deepak also accuses Prabhkar Anand of being a cast-est when one side of India stand against all Dal-its. Literally Deepak accuses Prabhkar because nor is he against the nasty topic of Reservation nor with it. Hearing this Poorbie gets very annoyed and decides to explain to Deepak that the way in which he spoke to her father was not acceptable. But Deepak is not regrettable as he knows whatever he has done is not wrong. after consideration they patch up. Though now Poorbie and Prabhkar's wife (Tanvi Azmi) have also started to feel that he has never given them much happiness.

From then onwards he promises them to keep them happy forever. As long as the devil subsists how can anyone remain happy, it's no other than Mithilesh Singh (Manoj Bajpai). Deepak argues with him and he sends him to jail. There Prabhkar comes and gets Deepak bailed. Prabhkar also faces humiliation by Mithilesh Singh who calls him a zero This film is literally about the Educational Institution of (Reservation).
